What the Client Needed.

To secure more bookings for stage shows, school programs, workshops and events, by helping event organisers, schools and sponsors quickly see that the ensemble is credible and easy to hire.

Expected Outcomes

  • Organisers and schools should be able to judge the ensemble’s experience within seconds of arriving.
  • More direct booking enquiries, since contact and booking are one tap away from any section and arrive on WhatsApp.
  • A site that feels distinctive enough to be remembered and shared.
  • Fast loading on mobile, so visitors don’t leave before the page appears.

What AmaHappenings Delivered.

We built a complete one-page website for Sekunjalo MaAfrica. Everything is there to help someone planning an event, school programme or festival decide to get in touch.

What’s on the page

  • The top of the page: a headline, two buttons (Book us, Next gathering) and a strip showing the next gathering, the 2012 founding, 14 years on stage and the Bulawayo base. A visitor knows who they are and how experienced they are before they scroll.
  • Dance and music styles: a moving strip with names like Isitshikitsha, Gumboot and Iwosana, so the range of what they perform is clear at a glance.
  • Videos and photos: a featured video, more videos to choose from, and two moving rows of photos. Anyone hiring a performer wants to see them perform first.
  • Gallery (“Captured moments”): a photo grid that opens full-screen, with arrows, a counter and swipe on phones, so visitors can look closely at the costumes, crowds and stages.
  • What we bring: dance, music, theatre and schools, plus the kinds of events they perform at, such as festivals, conferences and product launches. A visitor can tell quickly whether the ensemble fits their event.
  • The story: four short chapters on how the ensemble started, what they perform, their schools programme and their 2023 national festival win. People want to know who they’re trusting.
  • Events: upcoming and past events with dates, showing they are active and in demand.
  • Press: coverage from outside voices, which carries weight the ensemble can’t claim for itself.
  • Contact: a booking form where the visitor picks what they’re planning (stage show, school programme, workshop or general enquiry), plus phone, email and social links. The form sends the enquiry on WhatsApp, because that is how people in their market get in touch.

Easy to move around

  • Simple menu: seven links (Home, Services, About Us, Videos, Gallery, Events, Contact Us) take a visitor straight to any part of the page.
  • Easy on phones: on a phone, the menu opens as a large, easy-to-tap panel.
  • Contact is always close: Contact Us is always in the menu, and buttons throughout the page lead to the booking form.

Fast to load

  • Images: they are compressed, and the opening image loads first. Everything below loads as the visitor scrolls, so the page appears quickly even on mobile data. The site loads 1.5 seconds and scored Grade A on SpeedVitals.

Why We Made These Design Choices.

The order of the page

A person booking a performer first wants to be impressed, then convinced, then informed, and then ready to act, so the page follows that order. Videos and photos come early because seeing a performance is the strongest proof, then the services and story show who the ensemble is, and the booking form comes last, when the visitor is ready to enquire.

The fonts

The bold headline font (Anton) looks like a concert poster, so organisers remember the name. The old-print font (IM Fell English) on small labels adds heritage that backs up 14 years on stage. The body font (Barlow) is easy to read on a phone, so visitors can reach the booking form without effort.

The colours

Warm cream, black, orange and tan feel like stage lighting and fire, so the site looks like the ensemble and not a template. Orange is kept for buttons and event dates, so the eye goes to “Book us” first.
